Texas Hunting Resources

THR connects hunters with authentic, fair-chase experiences across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. We look forward to sharing the field with you.

Who We Are

Texas Hunting Resources (THR) was founded to better serve the Texas hunting community and out-of-state hunters seeking quality experiences in the Lone Star State. Our mission is simple: make the connection between hunter and outfitter as straightforward and stress-free as possible. We want you to trust THR for your next hunting adventure.

Born from a genuine love of hunting, THR is committed to bringing true hunting back into the conversation about Texas. We focus on understanding wildlife habits and practicing responsible habitat management rather than relying on blinds and feeders. This extra care allows us to deliver memorable experiences for our clients, even when the game or weather doesn’t cooperate.

We operate authentic hunting camps — not resorts. You’ll enjoy comfortable camps, good food, and friendly staff, but our real emphasis is on the hunt and the camaraderie that comes with it.

Proud to be one of the premier outfitters offering a true hunting experience across Texas, New Mexico, and southeastern Arizona, THR puts integrity, stewardship, and fair-chase hunting first.

The THR Difference

Ky McNett – Owner & Guide

Growing up in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Ky McNett was surrounded by stories of the incredible hunting opportunities found throughout West Texas and beyond, many from the adventures of his late grandfather, Jack Felps. As a young kid, trips to the Big Bend and Davis Mountain regions sparked an immediate passion for the rugged landscapes and wildlife of West Texas. Hunting whitetails and exotics in the Hill Country only continued to fuel a passion that would eventually become his career.

After high school and a short two-year stint playing baseball at Howard Payne University, Ky transferred to Angelo State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management. Throughout college, he gained experience guiding hunters, managing ranches, and co-owning a landscaping company.

After completing college, Ky moved farther west to work as a wildlife manager and guide on a sprawling 170,000-acre ranch west of San Angelo. It was there that he developed a passion for managing free-range wildlife populations and guiding hunters through authentic experiences beyond traditional stand hunting. This experience solidified his desire to continue pursuing opportunities in West Texas and throughout the western United States.

After several years of managing ranches and guiding full-time, along with meeting his wife Karli McNett, Ky decided to pursue his dream of becoming a West Texas outfitter. In 2018, he founded Texas Hunting Resources LLC with the goal of bringing true, fair-chase hunting experiences back to Texas. Many hunters from outside the state believe Texas hunting is limited to high-fence operations and feeder hunts, and THR was created to challenge that perception.

The Texas Hunting Resources family has continued to grow, as has Ky’s own family with the addition of three young children. Today, Ky and his family call the Mertzon, Texas area home while continuing to build the THR legacy.

Jon Garcia – THR Manager & Guide

Jon Garcia grew up in Sonora, Texas, where his passion for hunting and the outdoors began on a 14,000-acre ranch alongside his father. From chasing whitetails across Texas to pursuing elk and mule deer throughout the West, hunting has been a lifelong passion.

He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Animal Science with an emphasis in Range and Wildlife Management from Angelo State University. Over the past four years with Texas Hunting Resources, Jon has served as both a guide and company manager, helping hunters achieve their goals while creating memorable experiences in the field. He is passionate about wildlife management, conservation, and sharing the outdoors with others.

Gage Hernandez – Field Technician & Guide

A Sonora, Texas native through and through, Gage Hernandez grew up surrounded by working ranches, prime Axis country, and a passion for the outdoors. He began guiding at just 16 years old and has spent years building his knowledge of the land, wildlife, and what it takes to create a successful hunt.

Gage joined the Texas Hunting Resources team in 2024, bringing his local expertise and enthusiasm to every hunt. He believes the best part of guiding isn’t just the trophy—it’s the friendships and lasting memories made in the field.
